Essential Skills Food Program

Essential Skills Food Program: This program is an opportunity for youth to enter the workforce, specifically within the food industry. Hutton House offers 10 weeks of pre-employment training providing participants with the essential skills required to be successful in the workplace. All training takes place at the Hutton House Learning Centre. Participants will be trained in Safe Food Handling, Smart Serve, Customer Service Excellence, Worker Health & Safety, W.H.M.I.S., Cash Training and Cooking. Here's the schedule for the walk:

  •  4:00 - Registration opens
  •  5:00 - Opening Ceremonies
  •  5:20 - Walk begins (all distances)
  •  6:00 - Registration closes
  •  8:00 - Route closes

 

Between 6:00 and 8:00 pm a warm, light meal will be served to all walkers and volunteers. So, be sure to linger with us afterwards, share some laughs, hang with some friends and celebrate the walk - at least till you warm up.

Important Instructions

Registration opens at 4:00 pm. All walkers must check-in and sign a waiver form before participating. Please come prepared with:

  •  All cash and cheques payable to "Coldest Night of the Year"
  •  Pledge sheet with all donor data filled out completely and neatly OR
  •  Post all pledges of cash and cheques online in your personal fundraising page and print off the "My Donor List" and bring with cash or cheques**.
  •  Bring a signed WAIVER FORM available online under TOOLS / FORMS on the main site .

 

Note: Walkers who raise $150 (adults) or $75 (youth aged 13-17) do NOT have to pay the $25 registration fee.

  •  Rest Stops Rest stops will be provided at the 2.5 and 5km marks providing some shelter, some heat, a bathroom and some yummy snacks and warm drinks.
  •  Safety & Support We will have volunteers at key corners and intersections pointing the way and cheering you on. As well, there will be some friendly rest stop volunteers and support vehicles keeping an eye on everyone along the route.

Who knows what the weather will be like on WALK day. It could be warmer than expected or cold and blowy. The key is to come prepared while keeping an eye on the Weather Network.

Seniors Day Out is a half day program that occurs on the last Tuesday of the month. Participants will be treated to a morning of recreational activities (their choice of adult skate, shuffleboard, or a fitness class led by Fitness to the Max instructor Stefanie Thompson), coffee and tea, a guest speaker, and lunch provided by Aylmer Submarine. The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA®) is pleased to announce that London, Ontario has been selected to host the 39th edition of Country Music Week, September 8-11, 2016. This four-day music extravaganza will culminate with the Canadian Country Music Association Awards broadcast on Sunday, September 11.

Country Music Week will be held in London September 8-11, 2016 with the CCMA Awards Broadcast being held on Sunday, September 11. Before heading to London, Country Music Week 2014 and this year’s CCMA Awards will be celebrated in Edmonton, Alberta September 4-7. In 2015, Country Music Week and the CCMA Awards head to Halifax, Nova Scotia from September 10-13.
