Bring It

WHAT

BRING IT is a  ‘Confidence’ conference for girls in grades 6, 7 and 8. The day offers the opportunity for the participants to discuss problems they have in school, home and social networks. Facilitators will be working with girls in small groups to elicit conversations and questions and to guide the participants to understand their own ability to help themselves, find sources for help and be a positive influence for others.

WHY

To help the participants cultivate confidence and internal strength. To help them understand that confidence is not something one feels all of the time. It is something that requires time to build and develop. The noise of the countless voices coming at us from both outside and inside creates anxiety and stress. Sorting through the competing voices and landing on the ones that serves our most empowered self is a practice that can take years to master. True confidence, the kind that serves us throughout our life, comes when we can draw upon our inner voice, strength, and wisdom to help us navigate any situation that comes our way. It is never too early or late to learn and develop these skills.

WHO

250 or so London and area girls (anyone from out of town is welcome to attend).  This Event is for girls who are leaders already or are developing as leaders; as well as girls who are working on finding their inner strength and voice; girls who want to find skills and tools to manage day-to-day challenges relevant to them; girls who want to be a positive influence to others.  We want girls supporting girls and through the Youth Leaders: young women of today helping our young women of tomorrow.

The 2016 Great Lakes International Air Show

Confirmed for this year’s event is the Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 Demonstration Team. Flying the McDonnell Douglas F-18 Hornet, the team will thrill audiences throughout North America. Sitting in the cockpit for this year’s season is Demo Pilot Captain Ryan ‘Roid’ Kean. The team’s theme this year is the 75th Anniversary of the WWII British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP) in which Canada and the Elgin County region played a major role. The 2016 paint scheme for the CF-18 reflects this theme, with training scheme yellow the predominant colour. Ryan and his team are looking forward to entertaining the GLIAS audience this June with an awesome flying display showcasing the abilities of this world class air superiority jet fighter, and the personnel who both maintain and fly it.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds (431 Air Demonstration Squadron) is a Canadian icon comprised of serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces. Their pilots and technicians work as a team to bring thrilling performances to the North American public. Serving as Canadian ambassadors, the Snowbirds demonstrate the Skill, Professionalism and Teamwork inherent in the women and men of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and the Canadian Armed Forces.
