The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA®) is pleased to announce that London, Ontario has been selected to host the 39th edition of Country Music Week, September 8-11, 2016. This four-day music extravaganza will culminate with the Canadian Country Music Association Awards broadcast on Sunday, September 11.

Country Music Week will be held in London September 8-11, 2016 with the CCMA Awards Broadcast being held on Sunday, September 11. Before heading to London, Country Music Week 2014 and this year’s CCMA Awards will be celebrated in Edmonton, Alberta September 4-7. In 2015, Country Music Week and the CCMA Awards head to Halifax, Nova Scotia from September 10-13. The 10th Annual Stratford Kiwanis Garlic Festival

London Airshow

Airshow London | Sept 17 & 18, 2016 | London, Ontario

The loudest ticket in town goes on sale this Friday – May 6th as Airshow London advance sales begin.
Tickets can be ordered online or purchased in person at the Budweiser Gardens main box office and its campus outlets at Western and Fanshawe. Single day admittance, two day passes, front row seating and VIP packages are all up for grabs. General adult admission tickets start at $30 dollars and include free parking passes and shuttle bus service from various lots. Preferred paid parking options can also be purchased. Airshow London is set to fill the skies September 17 and 18th. Pilots and crews from military fighter demonstration teams from across the continent will be descending on London International Airport for a weekend of unprecedented power. Already confirmed for touchdown are two exceptional examples of active military aircraft. Canada’s CF18s will prove their reputation for outstanding versatility in delivering solid fighter and attack abilities and joining them on the tarmac and in the air are the F-22 Raptors, direct from Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. The F-22 is a premier dominance fighter capable of pulling a crowd to its feet – every time.
The Canadians will be standing on guard for the entire weekend. The Snowbirds precision team commands a crowd’s undivided attention and the Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team – The Skyhawks has all eyes looking up and hearts beating fast.
The T-33 brings the early era of jet fighters to the forefront and spectators won’t believe the speed and agility of London’s own - Pete McLeod’s Edge 540. Pete competes around the world as part of the Red Bull racing team.
Ground displays will feature interactive fun for everyone and a chance to get up close and personal with pilots and crew.

Wheels for Kevin

On Saturday, September 17, 2016 a fundraiser will be held in Belmont for Kevin Smith titled “Wheels for Kevin” to raise funds for the parents to purchase a wheelchair accessible van to transport this 20 year old young man.  Kevin was rendered paraplegic from a vehicle accident which occurred May 26, 2016 in the Belmont area.  This fundraiser is spearheaded by the Belmont Lions Club.  The event will commence at 3:00 p.m. and run until 1:00 a.m. with live entertainment, hot rod cars, antique tractors, cash bar and food available and a silent & live auction.  Tickets can be purchased in Aylmer at Cy’s Bowling Lanes & Lounge, in Dorchester at Lind Lumber, in Belmont at Belmont Farm Supply, Dale Farm Equipment, Kevin Easterbrook Clinic, Harkness Printing, and in London at McCulloch’s Costume & Party Supply store.  Donations may also be made at the Scotia Banks in Aylmer, Belmont and Dorchester.  For more information about this event or donations to the live/silent auction, contact Penny Van Kemenade at 519-644-1435.
