Game On

Epilepsy Support Centre is excited to announce the launch of Game On, a new program that encourages children with neurological conditions to get active. Starting on April 5, the weekly Saturday morning program in London begins a six week session. Children aged 4 to 12 living in Elgin, Oxford, London-Middlesex, Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-Lambton, and Windsor-Essex counties are welcome to attend. Interested families can register at www.epilepsysupport.ca/gameon

The six week session costs $60. Financial assistance is available for qualifying families. Due to misinformation, stigma, and social exclusion, children with neurological conditions are often excluded from games that would help them develop basic physical literacy skills. They end up at a disadvantage and less likely to participate in ongoing physical activity. Game On helps children with neurological conditions develop physical literacy skills in an inclusive environment and builds the foundation for a more active and healthier life. Epilepsy Support Centre is pleased to be able to provide the individual attention and encouragement required to ensure these often overlooked children flourish through their participation in Game On. The inclusiveness and accessibility of this program is made possible by a generous grant from the Government of Ontario’s Sports and Recreation Communities Fund.

For more information, contact Tabitha Vercillo at (519) 433-4073 or gameon@epilepsysupport.ca

London Clean & Green

Join Today's Country BX93 on Saturday, April 26th in supporting the City of London’s annual ‘Clean & Green’!

London Clean & Green coordinates the work of various organizations in cleaning up London parks, roadways, business sites, schoolyards, and the Thames River during the spring period. Thousands of Londoners will work together to help 'clean and green' neighbourhoods and parks around our city. We will pick up litter, remove graffiti and plant trees. Numerous designated meeting sites have been identified where volunteers can register, receive information and instruction, and get equipped with garbage bags. Other locations can be added anywhere in the city by registering through the City’s website and students can earn community service hours as part of their high school commitment. Please join us! When you do, you can be proud of being part of a growing trend across Ontario, Canada and North America that happens every April.
