Things I Learned on My Stay-cation!

I spent a fantastic week off.  Had no specific palns other than to cross one item a day off the 'honey-do' list and walk the dog.  Along the way to relaxation, I did learn a few things that maybe I was too busy to notice before, or maybe I just never looked.  Among them:

  • The world will miss Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson - I was a fan of both!
  • Some drivers still think that the yellow light means 'speed up' and that 'red lights' don't apply to them!
  • Even as a runner, I was ticked off at two women who ran down the middle of the road along Waterloo Street a couple of Sundays ago. Drivers (including me) had to drive around them - very silly and very unsafe!!
  • They have Canadian Flags on all of the utility poles along Winstanley Street in Monkton - what a great way to honour our nation's birthday.
  • Queen Street west of Quebec Street is now one lane with a bike lane - what a great idea!
  • Toronto residents are getting pretty fed up. In a recent Ipos-Reid survey, Mayor David Miller's approval rating has dropped from 69% four years ago to 43% today.  This is more than pent up frustration with the stopped garbage collection and closed public services. The poll was done largely before the strike started.
  • Atwood, Ontario is one friendly place. The Lions Club made our video crew feel very at-home last Friday night.  Even the bartender at the outdoor BX93 Video Dance introduced himself - Hi Jeff!
  • If you turn up the volume on the computer speakers while listening to "The Eagles - Live", you can't hear the doorbell. Sorry Nick!
  • Molly the wonder dog thinks that all plastic bottles are hers to chew on.
  • I have a new admiration for Dave and Jacquie after getting up at 3:45am this morning to fill-in for them. I'll here bright and early when you wake up every weekday until they get back from vacation on July 13th.  (How do you two do this every day?)

Cheers,
Chris
