When I was just a kid I fell in love with the music and the musicians I heard on my radio. I realized early on that I would never be a great musician .. so I decided I'd like to be the guy who plays that great music on the radio. Michael Jackson made great music. From the minute I saw him perform with his brothers when he was just 10 years old .. it was obvious he was born to perform. I don't think anyone could have known when he had his first hit with the Jackson 5 in 1969 .. just how much of a musical powerhouse he would become. His album "Thriller" became the soundtrack for a generation. When he sang "Billie Jean" on the Motown 25th Anniversary TV Special and moonwalked for the first time .. 40 million people were watching .. and he became a superstar. The pressure of trying to top that success .. along with many other personal issues .. lead to a slow downward spiral. His eccentricities have been well documented .. as have his plastic surgeries .. and his trouble with the law. His death was sudden and shocking .. and he'll be remembered for all of the strange things and rumours that followed him in life. But I hope he'll also be remembered as the 10 year old destined to be a star .. for making us all wish we could moonwalk .. for the joy his music brought.
