Album Review

Gangster's Story functions as an excellent introduction to Schoolly D, one of the first gangsta rappers of the '80s. Although the production on the album has dated poorly and some of the songs sound tame compared to what came later, Gangster's Story showcases what Schoolly D was all about, both for better and for worse. It's not the kind of disc that will convert listeners to gangsta rap, but historians and aficionados will find it a useful collection.
