Province Leaves New Teachers' Contracts Up to the Local Boards
The Ontario government is telling school boards in the province to hammer out new teachers' contracts with two-year wage freezes.
Education Minister Laurel Broten says local boards to will have to work out deals based on what the province reached with English Catholic teachers.
That agreement allows younger teachers raises but freezes salaries for the others.
Broten says the government won't allow the start of the school year to be delayed.
